Locker Base opens in Seville: 24/7 automated luggage storage ten minutes from Santa Justa

We welcome Locker Base, the new automated luggage-storage shop that has just gone live in Seville. Locker Base operates from Avenida de El Greco 8, 41007 — less than ten minutes on foot from Santa Justa station (AVE and long-distance), and with a fast connection to the historic centre. Their claim sums up the pitch precisely: "Drop your luggage. Enjoy Seville."

For us at LockMe, this is a meaningful opening for several reasons. First, Seville is one of Spain's major tourist destinations — over 3 million visitors a year, with brutal peaks at Semana Santa and the Feria de Abril — and there wasn't much modern 24/7 unattended luggage storage in town. Second, Locker Base arrives hand-in-hand with Setroc, an Andalusian partner specialised in local hardware and deployment, which lets us combine LockMe software with 100% local installation and operations — the model that scales best.

Locker Base: who they are and what they offer

Locker Base is a new automated luggage-storage operation designed for visitors arriving in Seville who need to drop their bags before or after their stay. The pitch on their own site goes straight to the point:

"Smart lockers, secure and available 24/7. Book your locker in seconds and enjoy the city without carrying your luggage."

It fits the typical pattern of Spanish urban tourism: early AVE arrival (hotel not open for check-in yet) or evening return flight (hotel already closed out). Five euros to leave the bag, hands free, and Seville enjoyed without straps.

The location: Av. El Greco 8, between Santa Justa and the centre

The address is Avenida de El Greco 8, 41007 Seville. It's in the San Bernardo / Santa Justa neighbourhood, on the axis connecting the AVE station with the old town. Walking distances from our door:

  • Santa Justa station (AVE) — 10 min on foot
  • Old town (Cathedral, Plaza del Salvador) — 20-25 min on foot / 10 min by bus
  • Plaza de España — 15 min on foot
  • Real Alcázar — 25 min on foot
  • Santa Cruz neighbourhood (Jewish Quarter) — 25 min on foot
  • Seville Airport (SVQ) — 15-20 min by taxi

The location logic is as good as it gets for the Spanish tourist flow: the Madrid-Seville AVE arrives directly at Santa Justa, from where you walk or hop on a city bus to the old town. Ten minutes on foot is the sweet spot — close enough to the AVE flow, and on a secondary street that avoids the impossible rents of the centre.

Sizes: M for cabin luggage, XL for large trolleys

Locker Base has configured its locker pool with two operating sizes:

  • M — medium: day pack, standard cabin suitcase (55×40×20 cm), sports bag. The most common size for a visitor stopping in Seville before or after their flight/AVE.
  • XL — large: large check-in suitcase, big trolley, trekking backpack, or even a suitcase + backpack combo together.

Both sizes with electric locks, 24/7 CCTV, and per-locker QR access. No S size is deliberate — most AVE tourists arrive with a cabin case at minimum, not hand bags, so the M+XL grid covers 95% of real demand and simplifies operations.

The operation: 100% self-service with LockMe software

Locker Base is an unstaffed shop. No people at the shop, no commercial hours, everything runs between the customer's phone and the door. Standard flow:

  1. Book from the phone at locker-base.com — before arriving in Seville or on the AVE on the way in. Pick size (M or XL) and hours.
  2. Walk into the shop at Av. El Greco 8. Card payment online or straight at the kiosk in the shop.
  3. Scan your personal QR. Your assigned locker opens automatically. Drop the bag, close.
  4. Come back whenever within your booked time. Same QR, same locker, 24/7 access, 365 days a year.

Behind the scenes is the full LockMe stack: operator-branded site, integrated payment gateway, per-locker remote control, automatic VAT invoicing and prompted reviews after pickup. All running from day one, no custom development, no fixed personnel costs.

Setroc: the Andalusian partner who made deployment possible

A key component of this opening is the collaboration with Setroc — our Andalusian partner for hardware and installation. Setroc brings the physical locker cabinet, electrical integration and local maintenance; LockMe brings the software, the booking platform and remote operations.

This model — LockMe software + local hardware partner — is the one we're scaling in new openings: it reduces the operator's capex, accelerates time-to-market (Locker Base went from decision to opening in a few weeks) and guarantees local hardware maintenance. If you have an empty space and want to explore the luggage-storage business in your city, this is the model we recommend.

Seville: why it fits automated luggage storage

Seville concentrates a type of tourism that is especially demanding for luggage storage:

  • Brutal seasonality: Semana Santa (March/April) + the Feria de Abril concentrate hundreds of thousands of visitors in two weeks. Outside those two windows, flow stays high but much more manageable.
  • Madrid-Seville AVE: 2h30 journey. Many visitors arrive in the morning, leave that same night or early next morning — the check-in/check-out window becomes the main logistical problem.
  • Pedestrian old town: Santa Cruz, the Jewish Quarter, the Alcázar area and the Cathedral are all pedestrian with narrow streets. Dragging a suitcase over the Judería's cobblestones is no plan.
  • Heat: in spring and summer Seville hits 35-40 °C. Carrying luggage under that sun turns half a day into torture.

What to do in Seville without carrying luggage

A typical one-day-visitor pattern in Seville, starting from Locker Base:

  • Head down to the centre via Menéndez Pelayo or San Bernardo (20-25 min on foot or C4 city bus). Arrival at Plaza del Salvador or Plaza Nueva.
  • Monumental centre: Cathedral + Giralda + Real Alcázar (book both in advance). 3-4 easy hours.
  • Lunch at tapas bars around Plaza del Salvador, Alfalfa or Alameda de Hércules. Solomillo al whisky, montadito de pringá, gazpacho.
  • Afternoon at Santa Cruz / Jewish Quarter: wandering Callejón del Agua, Plaza de Doña Elvira, Patio de los Naranjos.

  • Plaza de España + Parque de María Luisa: slow walk with the low sun, perfect closing before heading back to Santa Justa.
  • Back to Locker Base to pick up luggage and to Santa Justa for the night AVE.

That's exactly the pattern Locker Base solves: arrive early at Santa Justa, drop the bag 10 minutes on foot, do Seville light, come back to pick up and catch the AVE with calm. Zero logistical friction.
